What’s this slick little contraption then? It may be the cheapest in the latest range of Xiaomi scooters but it’s still blessed with all the Essentials!

Much like the 1S and Pro 2 models, the Essential comes with a snazzy new LED display that shows your speed, distance, battery life and driving mode. It also has the brand new front, back and side reflectors and improved skid-resistant, shock-absorbent pneumatic tyres, making for a smooth cruising experience.

Weighing in at just 12 kg, the Xiaomi Mi Essential is made from aluminium alloy and can reach up to speeds of 12 mph. Choose between three speed modes -Speed, Normal or Walk- and you’re good to go. Slow things down with a dual braking system combining automatic regenerative brakes and a rear disc brake.

The strength of 40 18650 Lithium Ion battery cells power the 250W DC motor, which can quite easily carry you 12 miles on a single charge.

Link up your Mi Essential with the Mi Home app via Bluetooth, so you can show off about your Mi Essential adventures to everyone you know.

Our favourite thing about the Essential is that it is equipped with a very smart BMS (battery management system). The Mi Essential stores kinetic energy generated when you accelerate, converts it back into electricity and feeds it back to the battery, meaning not an ounce of energy is wasted. It may be a simple little scooter but what an incredible superpower!
